Crimson Desert Gets Cross-Save Support Today🖥 PlayStation, Xbox, PC, Multi-platform

Crimson Desert Gets Cross-Save Support Today

!Crimson Desert Pearl Abyss PlayStation PS5 Pro Comparison Xbox Series X/S PC Performance Quality Balanced FPS(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/03/20/e882be8a/crimsondesert.jpg.webp) A new update for Crimson Desert adds cross-save today. This means that if you own the RPG on multiple platforms, you can now transfer save data between those versions. Naturally, using cross-save requires players to own two or more versions of Crimson Desert on the following platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X/S, or PC via Steam or the Epic Games Store. You’ll need to have a Pearl Abyss ID for each owned copy of the game, and you’ll need to link these accounts to initiate cross-save. A new cross-save icon now appears in Crimson Desert’s in-game save data menu, which will begin the setup process as detailed in an FAQ(https://account.pearlabyss.com/en-US/Member/Signin?state=pGnPvbJ8lBzKAfodyZmQWSoMhAmSXSkXt7Q81zhfClcvJq8LWpMnFBcpX0gg6FBUGrGQAspQyepDoAz5IH2p+KQtdDrkgAxLq0d9t4RiH2l3Tb90KaiZ%2fy00n3tHUUU03GdbCYRI5uMJAsFl1ccfHrlaeSgx1KUrSVHL4ICGWUO7KnavPnITYx7YUMkjeZJhZhXeMhtjGIt7ZiHaC+ka7sVkhjTiLIEHTHcqbSBUDC1z7ihPUyKg185EU3GL9Mir7+VPGLDBB+7dRRDdjUUZ3elffMsNMAGUoHhmDIdrI1IY2Ok6WpelHJ7iOAxMOF5hQ2hJMsKV2pN9iSu8vOktMxAm5cL5hFsKDxShozaxfZE%3d&authPlatform=1&authAction=6&sessionTicket=&returnUrl=https%3a%2f%2faccount.pearlabyss.com%2fen-US%2fMember%2fSignin%2fEndAuthentication). Crimson Desert is also available on Mac, but developer Pearl Abyss states that this version will not receive cross-save support until a future update. The addition of cross-saves is one of many major overhauls Pearl Abyss has planned for Crimson Desert as part of its post-launch update roadmap. One of the biggest changes will be to the game’s often-criticized narrative. You can read more about all of the updates coming to the game here(https://gameinformer.com/2026/06/02/the-latest-crimson-desert-roadmap-promises-story-improvements-new-combat-content-and). One Of Last Year's Best Horror Games, Total Chaos, Is Getting A Low-Poly Retro Mode And It Looks Awesome🎮 PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, Multi-platform

One Of Last Year's Best Horror Games, Total Chaos, Is Getting A Low-Poly Retro Mode And It Looks Awesome

!Total Chaos Retro Mode Trigger Happy Interactive Apogee Entertainment Doom II 2(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/07/16/b4e8e081/t2.jpg.webp) Developer Trigger Happy Interactive released its first-person horror game Total Chaos(https://www.gameinformer.com/product/total-chaos) last year on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, and it became one of my favorite horror games of 2025(https://www.gameinformer.com/review/total-chaos/a-haunting-catharsis). The game was great at launch, made even better with a New Game+ update that arrived earlier this year with a brand-new finale alongside a Switch 2 version, and now, thanks to an upcoming "Retro Mode" update, is set to get even more tantalizing. Publisher Apogee Entertainment revealed on Bluesky(https://bsky.app/profile/apogeeent.com/post/3mqosmjetjk2f) today that Retro Mode will bring pixelated visuals, low-poly horrors, and yet another new ending to Total Chaos. This horror game began as a total conversion mod of Doom II, and Apogee says this new ending is inspired by those Doom II origins. You can see an example of the Retro Mode look in the header image at the top of this article, but here's another look below: !Game Informer News(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/07/16/b4e8e081/t2.jpg.webp) The game is set within the corridors, hallways, cliffs, and bunkers of an isolated and desolate mining town run amok by a rotting disease that has infected both the protagonist's mind and the once-citizens of this place. Using first-person combat, a constantly expanding crafting system, and environmental puzzle-solving, Trigger Happy Interactive crafted an excellent horror adventure well worth the price of admission and the dozen or so hours of runtime. You can read more about why in Game Informer's Total Chaos review(https://www.gameinformer.com/review/total-chaos/a-haunting-catharsis). There's no word on when Retro Mode will arrive in Total Chaos, but Apogee Entertainment says it's coming soon. In the meantime, read my dissection of the game's themes(https://www.gameinformer.com/opinion/2025/12/26/hating-cancer-and-the-cutthroat-catharsis-of-total-chaos) and how they intersect with hating cancer, cutthroat catharsis, and more. Total Chaos is available today on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Have you played Total Chaos? Let us know what you think of it in the comments below!

Star Ocean: The Second Story R Gets Switch 2 Edition, But With The Usual Square Enix Caveats🎮 PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Multi-platform

Star Ocean: The Second Story R Gets Switch 2 Edition, But With The Usual Square Enix Caveats

!Star Ocean The Second Story R Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Square Enix(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/07/16/9731159c/staroceanthesecondr.jpg.webp) Square Enix has surprise-released a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Star Ocean: The Second Story R(https://www.gameinformer.com/product/star-ocean-the-second-story-r), its sci-fi RPG(https://www.gameinformer.com/nintendo-direct/2023/06/21/star-ocean-the-second-story-remake-announced) that launched on Switch (and PlayStation and PC) in 2023. This Switch 2 version boasts 1080p resolution, both docked and in handheld mode, with a 60 FPS frame rate, making it a big improvement over the significantly lower resolution and 30 FPS frame rate of the Switch version. But, this edition comes with the usual Square Enix caveats. Similar to the Octopath Traveler and Octopath Traveler II Switch 2 editions(https://gameinformer.com/node/127099) announced earlier this week, anyone who wants to play this Star Ocean remake on Switch 2 will have to pay $49.99; there is no upgrade path for owners of the Switch 1 version, and your save data does not transfer. It's another step down this disappointing trend for Square Enix, which expects players to fork over more money to play a game they already own on a new system – the company doesn't even opt for low-cost upgrade paths, something even Nintendo itself(https://www.gameinformer.com/nintendo-direct/2025/04/02/metroid-prime-4-tears-of-the-kingdom-and-more-get-enhanced-switch-2) does with games like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom(https://www.gameinformer.com/review/the-legend-of-zelda-tears-of-the-kingdom/such-great-heights) and more. Maybe Square Enix is seeing enough purchases to justify it, but it's not a player-friendly practice either way. Check out the Star Ocean: The Second Story R Nintendo Switch 2 edition trailer below: Star Ocean: The Second Story R is a remake of the original Star Ocean: The Second Story, which launched on PlayStation in the U.S. in 1999. It's about a Federation officer named Claude C. Kenny who is mysteriously transported to a mystical planet. There, he searches for a way home but is drawn into a quest to save the planet by a young girl who lives there, becoming wrapped up in an ancient prophecy in the process. Star Ocean: The Second Story R is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Switch 2, Switch, and PC. Editor's Note: This story has been updated to remove mention of Star Ocean: The Second Story R being an HD-2D game, as that is incorrect How do you feel about the way Square Enix handles Switch 2 re-releases? Let us know in the comments below!

Upcoming Souls-Like So Popular It Sells Out Of PS5 Preorders🎮 PlayStation, Multi-platform

Upcoming Souls-Like So Popular It Sells Out Of PS5 Preorders

While Sony gets ready to kill its disc production of PlayStation games in 2028, there are still plenty of games launching on physical media before disc-ageddon happens. One of those games is Mortal Shell 2(https://www.gamespot.com/games/mortal-shell-ii/), but unless you got your preorder in before its August 20 release, you'll have to wait if you want a specific physical version of the upcoming souls-like for PS5. Developer Cold Symmetry and publisher Playstack took to X on July 16(https://x.com/MortalShellGame/status/2077713025247613325) to share the unfortunate news. In revealing that the demand for the game's physical PlayStation 5 release "exceeded expectations," the studio confirmed that the supply just couldn't keep up. "We sincerely apologize if you were planning on preordering the Revered Edition and it is no longer available in your territory," Cold Symmetry wrote. "Due to Mortal Shell II’s release date of August 20, and the manufacturing time required to replenish stock, there is a very low chance of additional physical copies becoming available before the game’s release." https://twitter.com/MortalShellGame/status/2077713025247613325 "We are working with our distribution partner to review ongoing demand, and we'll update as soon as we hear their decision on next steps," the studio said. "To be clear, there is no guarantee of a stock replenishment plan after launch as this decision is not ours to make." It's worth mentioning that this supply-and-demand issue is specific to Mortal Shell 2's $70 Revered Edition for PS5, which comes with some extra goodies alongside the game, such as a collector’s tuck-in box, a steelbook case, fine art prints, and a physical artbook. Checking places like Best Buy and GameStop bears this out, too, as this edition is either "coming soon" or outright unavailable. You can still preorder the base game for $50 if you'd prefer a physical copy, but you won't get the aforementioned accoutrements. Mortal Shell 2 is a standalone sequel to the studio's 2020 outing, Mortal Shell(https://www.gamespot.com/games/mortal-shell/). It's a somewhat novel souls-like in that you outfit your character with "shells" that change your playstyle while providing you with distinct interactions in combat. While the game launches on August 20, there's an open beta (read: demo) you can check out on Steam right now(https://store.steampowered.com/app/4711740/MortalShellIIOpenBeta/) that, should you finish it, unlocks a very bloody Flayed Harbinger skin and the option to skip the prologue when the full game launches.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced: All 30 Treasure Maps and Treasure Locations

!(https://assetsio.gnwcdn.com/edward-opening-chest.jpg?width=690&quality=85&format=jpg&auto=webp) Scattered throughout the world of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced are 30 Treasure Maps, each leading to fortune, fancy outfits, powerful weapons, and plenty of other plundered rarities that will come in handy during Edward Kenway's sailing expeditions. Some Treasure Maps are located on the skeletons of former pirates and members of the Spanish and British Empires who didn't fare so well at sea. Others are only available from the Treasure Dealer, a member of your Hideout who becomes available later in the game. And while most maps offer up a set of coordinates, these locations can be infernally tricky to find. In this comprehensive guide, we've outlined all 30 Treasure Maps and treasure locations in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, and we've also listed the rewards that come from chasing down these goodies, so you can decide whether or not you want Edward to take the plunge. Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Will Probably Look Best On The Console That Costs The Most🎮 PlayStation, Multi-platform

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Will Probably Look Best On The Console That Costs The Most

Another year, another Call of Duty, with this year's entry featuring Infinity Ward as the lead developer. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4(https://www.gamespot.com/games/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-4/) will once again be available across a wide variety of platforms, and Sony has dropped a few details about how the Microsoft-owned game will probably look best on its expensive PS5 Pro console. In a new look at the game, Sony briefly confirmed that Modern Warfare 4 will benefit visually from the recently upgraded PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/ps5-pros-upgraded-pssr-is-rolling-out-today-here-are-the-first-games-getting-it/1100-6538811/) (PSSR), and the game will support "increased graphics quality" from 120Hz and 60Hz, as well as an  unlocked framerate when VRR and 120Hz are enabled together. Both the PS5 Pro and the base PS5 will run the game at 4K, but Sony didn't mention if the games will be upscaled from a lower resolution, as is the case with most new releases on the consoles. While it looks like the PS5 Pro may offer the best visual experience for this year's Call of Duty, that graphical bump isn't cheap. After Sony hiked console prices(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/ps5-price-increase-confirmed-by-sony-amid-market-pressures/1100-6539060/) earlier this year, the PS5 Pro MSRP rose to $900, making it the most expensive home console(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/the-ps5-pro-is-still-worth-it-for-now/1100-6539101/) of the current generation. While the hardware has become a lot more expensive, recent months have seen more games take advantage of the PS5 Pro and PSSR 2.0 to give their games a graphical bump. Cyberpunk 2077(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/cyberpunk-2077-ps5-pro-update-cd-projekt-red-once-said-no-to-is-almost-here/1100-6539252/), Alan Wake 2, and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth are some of the notable examples, and Ubisoft also outlined the extra features that players could expect if they play Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/assassins-creed-black-flag-resynced-ps5-upgrades-include-dedicated-hair-rendering-tech/) on the console. Ahead of its launch on October 23, Activision also showed off Modern Warfare 4's ambitious new Kill Block map(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/see-cod-modern-warfare-4s-constantly-changing-kill-block-map-in-action/), which looks like someone kit-bashed together several popular Call of Duty maps to create a unique arena. With only a few months left to go before it arrives, more details on Modern Warfare 4 will be revealed at the Fanatics Fest this weekend. Infinity Ward studio head Mark Grigsby and Activision marketing executive Tyler Bahl will join a panel on the game(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/star-of-2026s-biggest-movie-will-talk-call-of-duty-mw4-this-weekend/) alongside Obsession star Inde Navarrette and NBA player Kevin Durant.
