Marvel's Wolverine trailer shows off Lady Deathstrike, Sabretooth, and more

Marvel's Wolverine is Sony's next big PlayStation 5 exclusive. A new trailer, showing with The Odyssey, confirms a classic Marvel villain.
Marvel's Wolverine is almost here (and on disc!), but Marvel fans are still learning what characters will be popping up. We already know a handful of confirmed characters for Insomniac Games' next Marvel outing, like Jean Grey and Mystique. In the game's latest trailer, shared on Thursday, a new villain was confirmed for the game: Lady Deathstrike.
In the new trailer, Wolverine gets his butt beat a handful of times. We see him launched into the air by an explosion and, after a quick cut, land on his face in the snow. Longtime adversary Sabretooth fights alongside Wolverine here, something the developers discussed in an earlier interview with IGN. Wolverine eventually fights what appear to be The Hand ninjas before Lady Deathstrike flies into the frame to tussle with our Canadian hero and slap him upside the head. (Dude just can't catch a break.)
Like Wolverine, Lady Deathstrike has an adamantium skeleton. Her fingers have been replaced with claws (yikes) that she can extend, if the foot-long stabbers weren't long enough already. 2003's X2 featured a version of Lady Deathstrike, played by Kelly Hu, as one of William Stryker's henchmen. She dies after being pumped full of liquid adamantium. (It was unsettling then, and it's unsettling now.) Hu reprised her role as Lady Deathstrike in last year's Deadpool VR.
Lady Deathstrike appears in the new trailer alongside a bunch of ninja, implying she's associated with them somehow. If they are indeed The Hand, she could be some sort of The Hand leader in the game.
Jean Grey also shows up in the trailer, but via a photograph this time. It shows her and Wolverine (clad in classic flannel; some things never change) sitting cozy together, further implying the two characters could have some sort of romantic connection in the game. As this picture goes up in flames, hopefully ol' Wolvie has a framed spare he can gaze at longingly back home.
Moviegoers will get a chance to gaze longingly at Marvel's Wolverine's latest trailer this weekend. Developer Insomniac says the latest look at its X-Men game will be playing ahead of Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey in select theaters in the U.S.
Marvel's Wolverine will be released in the overly crowded month of September on Sept. 15, exclusively on PlayStation 5.
