Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 Will Bring More Sprites

Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 is fast approaching. After so many hours collecting sprites in Chapter 7 Season 3, fans have been wondering if they would keep their progress next season or if sprites would even be part of Season 4. Epic Games has cleared their doubts by confirming that players will keep their sprite collection in Chapter 7 Season 4 and that even more tiny beings will join the roster.

Whenever there's a new Fortnite season, Epic Games adds new mechanics and weapons to keep the game alive, especially for fans who have been playing it for years. Chapter 7 Season 3 introduced players to sprites, collectible creatures that provide a special perk while equipped. Gamers were tasked with finding these small beings in order to fill out the sprite collection. While equipped, players earn XP by surviving, getting eliminations, and looting containers. Eventually, they will reach maximum level, mastering the sprite and increasing its power to the fullest. To ensure that their progress with a sprite is saved, they have to win the match or extract it. Experience is then kept, and players receive Sprite Dust in return, which can be used to unlock rewards.

A getaway island called Sprite Garden is coming at the start of Chapter 7 Season 4, the Gaming Legends-themed season. Here, players get to visit their sprites and play with them. According to Epic, sprites from Season 3 will be "immortalized" on the island, suggesting that even if sprites are vaulted from Battle Royale in the future, they'll always be available in the Sprite Garden.

Season 4 brings many sprites to Fortnite, and some have already been revealed. The five fans who won the Design-A-Sprite contest will see their creations throughout next season. Here are the winner sprite concepts shown on the Epic Games communities blog post:

• Bullet sprite: Ammo boxes grant slightly more ammunition
• Dumpster Dive sprite: Gathers loot from jumping into dumpsters
• Honey sprite: When a nearby enemy damages the player, a beehive quickly emerges and releases a swarm of bees towards the attacker. The bees deal light damage over time before dispersing.
• Pond sprite: The player can now speed faster. Increased jump height and fall damage reduction
• X-Ray sprite: Reveals players through walls and other objects for a short time

While sprites were a very popular addition this season, the community seems divided about their return. While sprites are fun, it can be grind to get them. Gamers have to keep an eye on power hours to ensure that they're able to collect the rarest sprites, and it can end up feeling like a chore. Several fans have reported that they're burned out from sprite hunting. However, since FOMO is common among live service games, many end up spending too much time on the collection and forget to have fun.
