Overview & Key Takeaways

Sony announces that PlayStation fans can sign up to play Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble, a new hero shooter, on iOS and Android now.

Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble is the next game in the iconic PlayStation series, and while we're still awaiting news on a release date, you can pre-register for the game right now.

Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Oh BiBi announced the Ratchet & Clank spinoff's latest milestone on Wednesday, confirming that after a soft launch and testing phase, Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble is going global.

Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble is, for better or for worse, a third-person multiplayer hero shooter exclusive to iOS and Android. First revealed back in November 2025, the reception wasn't great: "This sounds like the kind of thing Ratchet and Clank would've made fun of," reads one YouTube comment. Meanwhile, on the official PlayStation Blog post announcing the pre-registration details, user Lumionion says that we "waited all these years for a dead on arrival Ratchet and Clank game."

"Since the game’s reveal a few months ago, we’ve been testing and refining the experience through regional soft launches in Canada, the Nordics, France, and Asia," reads the blog post. "After a successful testing phase shaped by player feedback, Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble is now gearing up for global launch, and pre-registration is the first step on that journey."

Developed by Oh Bibi, a mobile game development studio behind Frag Pro Shooter, BEAST, and Go Go Magnet, Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble has 12 heroes available at launch, including some new Lombaxes. There are also six different game modes including PvP, PvE, a battle royale, and a soccer-themed "showdown."

It sounds like Oh Bibi is anticipating a skeptical response from fans of the series though, as in the blog post, CEO Stanislas Dewavrin explains that they "know how much this universe means to people." The team's ambition was to "create a game that feels like it truly belongs in the series."

By pre-registering for Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble, you'll contribute toward the community effort of unlocking rewards, with the ultimate offering being a Clank Suit cosmetic for Widget, one of the game's playable heroes.

PlayStation Shares New Details For Mobile Hero Shooter, Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble

!Game Informer News(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/07/15/ecad9fb6/ratchet-and-clank-ranger-rumble-gameplay.jpg.webp) Last November, PlayStation unveiled Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble, a new mobile hero shooter take on Insomniac Games’ flagship franchise. After soft-launching in various non-US regions over the last few months, a new blog post(https://blog.playstation.com/2026/07/15/ratchet-clank-ranger-rumble-gameplay-details-on-the-upcoming-mobile-hero-shooter/) reveals more details about the game ahead of its yet-to-be-revealed global launch. Developed by Oh Bibi in collaboration with Insomniac, Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble is a free-to-play multiplayer hero shooter coming to iOS and Android. The game takes place inside a combat simulation created by Captain Qwark to train new Galactic Ranger recruits. Players control a roster of 12 heroes (with more to come post-launch) that, while featuring Ratchet and Clank and other recognizable faces, largely consist of new characters. This includes robots, aliens, and even Lombaxes from other dimensions like Widget, a spunky investigative journalist, and Mopz, a mopey street gang member. Ranger Rumble's bread and butter are its PvP arena battles (featuring "dynamic PvE elements") where players team up to blast competitors apart using the series' signature wacky weaponry.  The blog post reveals the game will have six game modes at launch that promote PvP and PvE play. Modes include a take on battle royale and a soccer-inspired contest. “Staying true to the series has been at the heart of the project from day one,” writes Oh Bibi chief executive officer Stanislas Dewavrin in the blog post. “The signature humor, beloved characters, and gloriously inventive weaponry that have defined Ratchet & Clank for over two decades are all here, reimagined for fast-paced battles built specifically for mobile, with new characters and weapons to discover. There’s no release window for Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble’s global launch, but players can pre-register to play on its website(https://www.rangerrumble.com/) now to receive exclusive rewards.
