🖥 PlayStation, PC, Multi-platformBrand New Day Is Giving Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Its Biggest Sales Boost In Years
Spider-Man: Brand New Day just cleared $1.6 billion at the box office, and that has also led to a surge in sales of Marvel's Spider-Man 2(https://www.gamespot.com/games/marvels-spider-man-2/). According to new data estimates by Alinea Analytics, another 316,000 copies of the 2023 game have been sold on PS5 and PC via Steam since Spider-Man: Brand New Day swung into theaters, generating $11 million in sales. As Alinea's head of market analysis Rhys Elliot noted online, 20% of the copies sold since the film launched were physical, and another 274,000 players jumped into the game via its availability through PlayStation Plus Game Catalog for Extra and Premium tiers. In terms of pure numbers, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 now sits at 18.2 million units sold--92% of which were on PS5--and has made over $1.2 billion since launch. "While some smart discounts had an impact, hype around the movie did most of the work here, as shown by the pricing data in our platform," Elliot wrote(https://x.com/superhys/status/2086818332171182544). To put this into perspective, AA's data estimates that the game has sold 15,000 copies a day on PS5 at the current price of $29.39, a massive uptick when compared to the February promotion that saw Sony sell around 6,300 units per day. On Steam, sales also increased, with the game priced at $40 on PC. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/htx531h5YTY?feature=share Could this effect be repeated with the dozens of other video game movie adaptations(https://www.gamespot.com/gallery/video-game-movies-in-the-works/2900-5059/) in development right now, like Nintendo's Legend of Zelda film(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/live-action-legend-of-zelda-fan-film-gets-shut-down-by-nintendo/1100-6529246/)? Elliot added that "these lifts happen mostly by accident," and considering how unpredictable movie and video game development cycles are, syncing up two massive productions to release within one another like this would be a "logistical" nightmare to pull off. "But for the handful of publishers making movies AND games in the same IP, surely one of these has to line up. I'd kill to see that impact," Elliot concluded. To coincide with the launch of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 developer Insomniac Games added a PSSR update for PS5 Pro owners and the new "Fresh Start" costume(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/marvels-spider-man-2-swings-into-a-brand-new-day/) from the movie. The film also took inspiration from the game, with star Tom Holland and director Destin Daniel Cretton talking about how some of the stylish finishers were incorporated(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/spider-man-brand-new-day-fight-scenes-started-with-marvels-spider-man-screenshots/) into several action scenes. Spider-Man: Brand New Day made another $145 million at US theaters during the August 7-9 weekend, and it looks like it could clear $2 billion globally by the time its run ends, raising the bar for Avengers: Doomsday when it arrives on December 18. 🖥 PlayStation, PC, Multi-platformMarvel Tokon's Roster Should Add These 10 Characters You Forgot About
Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls will add more playable characters as future DLC. Here are 10 essential heroes we want to see in the new 4v4 tag fighter.
🖥 PlayStation, PC, Multi-platformPSA: Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls Has Day-One Issues On PC
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls(https://www.gamespot.com/games/marvel-tokon-fighting-souls/) is out today, but PC players are experiencing some problems with the game that their PlayStation 5 counterparts don't have have to deal with. Developer Arc System Works noted that the PC port had issues during the open beta last month and it pledged to fix them(https://x.com/MARVELTokon/status/2082149200574173584?refsrc=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E2082149200574173584%7Ctwgr%5E95945384acf5e1428ea79c86c2138f102115a5e0%7Ctwcon%5Es1&refurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.eventhubs.com%2Fnews%2F2026%2Fjul%2F28%2Fmarvel-tokon-pc-issues-pledge%2F) with a patch on day one. However, PC players are reporting that Marvel Tokon is still suffering from the same problems that made it nearly unplayable during the beta. As explained by a player on Reddit(https://www.reddit.com/r/Fighters/comments/1vh9ywj/marveltokonisstillunplayableonpcforafew/), Marvel Tokon on PC is plagued by dropped frame rates and stutter regardless of the specs of the machines being used. "It's a problem that Arc System has to fix on their side, you can't do anything about it," writes Davids Symphony. "You could be running a 5090 with a 9800X3D at the lowest settings and it'll still happen." Players who were hoping to take Marvel Tokon for a spin on Steam Deck have also been disappointed to find that it can't even launch in Steam OS/Linux. "The best part is the community manager on discord saying that, 'Asking for Linux support is like asking for a Switch port,'" writes Rinnekaton on Reddit(https://www.reddit.com/r/Fighters/comments/1vh7wfn/marveltokonisblockedfromevenlaunchingon/). "The game uses EAC, and I don't even need to mention that EAC is widely supported on Linux. Linux support for EAC being a simple toggle (direct words from Valve themselves) is common knowledge at this point. In no way is it like porting to Switch." While it's unknown if or when Arc Systems will address Marvel Tokon's compatibility with Steam Deck, the developer has shared the details about its day-one patch. In the meantime, Arc Systems has unveiled a roadmap for Marvel Tokon's upcoming DLC(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/marvel-tokon-fighting-souls-roadmap/). The first new fighter slated to be added to the lineup this fall is Phoenix Cyclops, a cosmic-powered incarnation of the character from 2012's Avengers vs. X-Men crossover event. In that story, Cyclops, White Queen, Namor, Colossus, and Magik were each given a portion of the Phoenix Force that remade them into god-like beings. If the game follows a similar direction, other members of the Phoenix 5 could be added later. The current patch notes are below. Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls Day One Patch Notes Performance Optimizations (Primarily for the PC SKUs) - Removed unnecessary character animation updates from being performed; resulting in a reduced CPU load. - Made improvements to alleviate the load on the user interface update. - Made improvements to address an issue where performance significantly deteriorated when running applications that use overlays or capture video. OBS Studio: Video capture via Game Capture & Discord: Overlays, Video Capture. - Added an anti-aliasing option to the automatic graphics quality setting to ensure that the appropriate anti-aliasing option is applied based on performance and prevents unintended load increases. - Fixed an issue that enabled unintended anti-aliasing plug-ins (e.g. DLSS, FSR, XeSS). - Also included a feature to the custom graphics quality settings and effect options that allow you to change the update frequency of the stage background characters. - Selecting medium quality of low quality will reduce the update frequency and slightly reduce the load on the CPU. - Have set the prompt inquiring about performing a shade warm-up at startup to ON by default, making it easier to find and perform a shader warm-up. - Fixed an issue that caused the shader warm-up to run unintentionally at startup. - Steam Version: Fixed an issue that caused a delay in sending input data during online matches; resulting in improved online match performance. - PS5 Version: Implemented additional measure to mitigate input lag. Other Fixes - Game Screen - Fixed an issue where the game would automatically switch between monitors on setups that featured multiple monitors. - Online Lobby - Fixed an issue where some players would become invisible after viewing rankings in Ranked Mode and then enter the Online Lobby. - Ranked Mode - Fixed an issue where the screen would become distorted when a large number of digits were displayed. - Game Server Connectivity - Improved communication stability between the client and the game server. - Mouse - Fixed an issue where the game would sometimes crash when using the mouse too quickly in the game's menus. - Text Optimization - Fixed an issue where performance was significantly reduced when large amounts of text were on screen; particularly when set to Arabic or Thai. - Connectivity- Fixed an issue where the game would become unplayable if the network connection was lost during the Challenger Alert screen. Gameplay Adjustments - Input Optimization - Changed the input prioritization to 236 < 623 < 236 after 41236, allowing for a more accurate activation of 623 when using the input 6236. - Danger - Revised the input handling for ground dashes. Have made it possible to cancel into a skill from a ground dash to make it less likely for aerial special moves to be accidentally triggered.
🖥 PlayStation, PC, Multi-platformThe World’s Gone To Hell, But You Still Have To Go To Work, Just Like In This Horror Game
A famous poet once said, "Work sucks; I know." That timeless truth is the backdrop for HR: Human Remains, an upcoming first-person horror game in which demons have taken over the world, but you're still clocking in for your desk job. Today, GameSpot can exclusively reveal the release date; it's coming to Steam on September 22. Check out the brand-new release date trailer below for more. With an aesthetic reminiscent of the original PlayStation era, HR: Human Remains has a darkly humorous tone, but is still very much a horror game. In it, you'll be stuck as an office clerk, interacting with co-workers and your extra-horrible bosses while uncovering a story with multiple endings to experience based on your choices. There are Sunday Scaries, and then there's whatever this guy has got himself into. You'll need to solve puzzles to explore hidden places, while also collecting items with which you can decorate your break room. To me, it sounds sort of like three parts Hellraiser and one part Office Space, and I can surely dig that. The game is on the way from developer DennisCorner and publisher Black Lantern Collective(https://www.gamespot.com/gallery/10-horror-games-were-just-announced-from-this-new-publisher/2900-6803/), which specializes in indie horror games.
