Yes, Resident Evil: Veronica Is A Third-Person Game🎮 PlayStation, Multi-platform

Yes, Resident Evil: Veronica Is A Third-Person Game

Just like (well, not just like) the original 2000 game, Resident Evil: Veronica will be played from a third-person perspective. The news was shared with GameSpot during a group Q&A session at Summer Game Fest(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/summer-game-fest-live-2026-all-the-biggest-announcements-and-games/), which is also where Capcom officially announced the game to the public. The original Resident Evil: Code Veronica was also played in third-person--just like most of the older Resident Evil games--but it utilized the clunkier "tank" controls of the PlayStation originals. For Resident Evil: Veronica, GameSpot was told(https://www.gamespot.com/videos/resident-evil-veronica-what-we-learned/) the closest gameplay corollary would be the Resident Evil 2 remake(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/why-capcom-chose-to-remake-resident-evil-code-veronica/). Both games feature Claire Redfield in a playable role, and because Veronica only takes place a few months after Resident Evil 2, Claire is still not a combat expert--there will be a big focus on resource management, in classic Resident Evil fashion. Though it was not a numbered, mainline entry when the original version launched, Resident Evil: Veronica is being treated closer to one this time around. The one-word subtitle(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/how-resident-evil-veronica-is-being-treated-like-a-mainline-game/) was chosen to evoke the recent games like Requiem and Village, and as longtime fans know, much of the franchise's main story continued in Code Veronica. Resident Evil Veronica launches in 2027 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and PC.

Zany Punk Action-RPG Stupid Never Dies Gets Fall Release Window In New Gameplay Trailer

!Game Informer News(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/03/12/c7b9f31d/SNDheader.jpg.webp) Stupid Never Dies(https://www.gameinformer.com/product/stupid-never-dies) is a pop punk-inspired action-RPG, and it's one we're excited to play(https://www.gameinformer.com/preview/2026/03/12/for-stupid-never-dies-pop-punk-is-the-origin). Now, we know we'll be doing so later this year, as a new gameplay trailer has revealed it launches on PlayStation 5 and PC this fall. There's still no word on an exact date, but the nebulous "2026" has become the more defined "fall 2026," and to satiate you for now, developer GPTRACK50 has released a new trailer to showcase more of what to expect. In Stupid Never Dies, you play as Davy, the weakest zombie in the monster world, who will embark on a journey of self-discovery to master the abilities of 10 different monsters. Check it out in the Stupid Never Dies release window trailer below: As you can see, this new trailer showcases all 11 of Davy's styles: his standard Zombie form, plus Werewolf, Harpy, Golem, Vampire, Will-o'-the-Wisp, Cyclops, Snow Fairy, Merfolk, Lich, and Demon. In all of these forms, players will utilize Davy in all manner of 3D action-RPG combat arenas. "Davy is not only considered the weakest among zombies – the lowest-ranked creatures in the monster world – but is also known as a complete coward," a press release reads. "His goal is simple: to revive Julia, the frozen woman he fell in love with at first sight, and finally take her on a date. As Davy's feelings for Julia intertwine with the motivations of his eccentric companions, the story gradually unfolds into an adventure where they must confront a common enemy together." Stupid Never Dies will launch sometime this fall on PlayStation 5 and PC. In the meantime, read Game Informer's recent preview of the game(https://www.gameinformer.com/preview/2026/03/12/for-stupid-never-dies-pop-punk-is-the-origin) to find out why we're excited for more of it. Naoki Hamaguchi On Bringing Final Fantasy Back To Nintendo🎮 PlayStation, Multi-platform

Naoki Hamaguchi On Bringing Final Fantasy Back To Nintendo

!Final Fantasy VII Revelation(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/06/09/a16b7bc1/ffviirevelationkeyarthorizontal.jpg.webp) When Final Fantasy debuted in 1987, it did so on the Famicom (and later the NES in 1990), and Nintendo platforms would play host to the franchise all the way up until Final Fantasy VII. That pivotal entry was not only the series' transition to 3D graphics, but it also spelled the franchise's move to PlayStation as its primary platform. While some future entries would eventually arrive on other platforms, the mainline series has largely ignored Nintendo consoles outside of some side titles and spin-offs. Perhaps it's fitting, then, that a multi-part remake of the very game that signaled the shift away from Nintendo, Final Fantasy VII, is the very trilogy that is giving Nintendo fans more hope regarding the future of the franchise on its platform. It all began earlier this year, as Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade(https://gameinformer.com/review/final-fantasy-vii-remake-intergrade/final-fantasy-vii-remake-episode-intermission-review-the), an upgraded version of the first part of the Remake Trilogy, arrived on Nintendo Switch 2 in January. Then, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth(https://gameinformer.com/review/final-fantasy-vii-rebirth/cracking-the-planet-wide-open), part two of the trilogy, came to Switch 2 earlier this very month. Finally, during the 2026 Summer Game Fest live show, Remake Trilogy director Naoki Hamaguchi took the stage to close out the show, announcing that Final Fantasy VII Revelation(https://gameinformer.com/sgf-2026/2026/06/05/the-third-final-fantasy-vii-remake-subtitle-is-revelation-and-its-coming-to-all), the third and final part, would arrive simultaneously across all major platforms, including Nintendo Switch 2, when it arrives in the first half of 2027. !Game Informer News(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/06/09/811578a3/ffviirevelationswitch2junescreenshots3.png.webp) For Naoki Hamaguchi, the return to Nintendo through a remake of the game that originally moved the franchise away to PlayStation in the first place is fitting. "I think it's definitely a meaningful moment for the franchise and for fans as a whole," he says. "I was definitely a PlayStation kid when I was growing up playing games, but at the same time, I was also fond of the Nintendo hardware as well. The original FF7 is a very iconic title that represents the transition from Nintendo to PlayStation, but bringing that back and going with the multiplatform launch on day one with this title is very meaningful to me. I know it means a lot for original director Yoshinori Kitase and original artist and writer Tetsuya Nomura, as well – people who actually grew up with the Nintendo platforms. But it means a lot to me to be the one who actually brings the Final Fantasy series back on Nintendo platforms again on day one as both a fan and developer. I think this a meaningful full-circle moment." Interestingly enough, from Hamaguchi's perspective, Japanese fans are much less accepting of games going multiplatform. "One thing I do want to be mindful of is the cultural different between the Western fans and the Japanese fans," he says. "When you look at the Western fans, particularly the North American fans and European fans, they welcome the multiplatform approach with a more positive attitude. But when you look at the Japanese fans, they tend to have a little bit of a negative behavior towards it, and they post their stronger opinions online with that particular approach, so I do have to be mindful of the cultural difference there. But if we do continue to take this approach, launching multiplatform on day one, I think this approach would be accepted more globally." Jason Momoa Reportedly Drops Out Of Helldivers Movie🎮 PlayStation, Multi-platform

Jason Momoa Reportedly Drops Out Of Helldivers Movie

The upcoming film adaptation of Helldivers has lost its leading man, with Jason Momoa exiting the project. Deadline(https://deadline.com/2026/06/jason-momoa-helldivers-exits-1236950906/) reports that Momoa, who joined the production in February(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/helldivers-movie-starring-jason-momoa-sets-2027-release-date/1100-6538105/), departed from the movie, but the reason for his withdrawal is not clear. Regardless, the film is still in production and set for a November 2027 premiere. Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions are said to be searching for a new star. While it's understandable that any major studio would want a big-name actor in the lead, Helldivers might be better suited for an ensemble cast, as one of the key elements of the games is the expendability of every Helldiver in the never-ending battle for managed democracy. Regardless, Momoa would have been a boon for a Helldivers adaptation; he has video game adaptation cred with A Minecraft Movie and the upcoming Street Fighter film, in which he portrays Blanka(https://www.gamespot.com/gallery/street-fighter-movie-cast/2900-6984/12)--inspired casting, to say the least. With production on A Minecraft Movie Squared firing up(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/a-minecraft-movie-2-gets-a-new-name-adds-one-of-the-funniest-actors-out-there/), it's possible that schedule conflicts emerged for Momoa. The Helldivers movie has Fast & Furious director Justin Lin at the helm(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/helldivers-movie-lands-fast-furious-director/1100-6536624/), and although his reported lack of experience playing video games sparked some concern, his track record with action movies should largely quell any worries. 50 Video Game Movies In The Works: How Many Of Them Will Actually Come Out? !Street-Fighter(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Street-Fighter.jpg?w=1024) !4504066-elden-ring.jpg(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/original/1601/16018044/4504066-elden-ring.jpg?w=1024) !4436762-helldivers-2.jpg(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/original/1601/16018044/4436762-helldivers-2.jpg?w=1024) !4482814-themortuaryassistant.jpg(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/original/1601/16018044/4482814-themortuaryassistant.jpg?w=1024) !4328572-watchdogs.jpg(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/original/1601/16018044/4328572-watchdogs.jpg?w=1024) !4482820-sonic-4.jpg(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/original/1601/16018044/4482820-sonic-4.jpg?w=1024) !El-Paso(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/El-Paso.jpg?w=1024) View Images(https://www.gamespot.com/gallery/video-game-movies-in-the-works/2900-5059/)

Final Fantasy Revelation Is A Definitive Conclusion, But Could Make Way For Side Stories In The Future🎮 PlayStation, Multi-platform

Final Fantasy Revelation Is A Definitive Conclusion, But Could Make Way For Side Stories In The Future

Final Fantasy Revelation(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/final-fantasy-7-revelation-gets-its-first-trailer-at-summer-game-fest/) is the third game in the remake trilogy that kicked off with Final Fantasy Remake back in 2020, promising to conclude the epic tale that has been significantly added compared to its PlayStation original. But with Revelation capping off Cloud and company's adventure, is there space for more stories within this universe? That's a question GameSpot posed to Final Fantasy Revelation director Naoki Hamaguchi, who confirmed that Revelation will definitively conclude the story. However, he did leave the door open to more character-specific stories in the future. "So in terms of the Final Fantasy Remake series itself, it does conclude with Revelation," explained Hamaguchi via a translator. "We have had a lot of voices from fans wanting to explore the stories, or side stories, of other characters and other parts of the story as well. That is something that is interesting." It doesn't seem, however, that those are projects that Hamaguchi and his team have actively started working on. "We did want to bring the third conclusion that everyone has been waiting for as soon as possible, so we really focused our efforts on bringing Revelation as soon as we could," he concluded. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEhujmFOBDE&embedsreferringeuri=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.gamespot.com%2F An expansive side story is something that Hamaguchi explored with Final Fantasy Intergrade, which featured an entirely new chapter focused exclusively on Yuffie and how she would eventually join the party in Final Fantasy Rebirth. The second entry in the series never received any similar DLC in order for the team to focus on fast-tracking Revelation, but with it behind them it would be great to see additional chapters focused on other members of the growing party. Hamaguchi also explained how minigames in Revelation are being changed(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/final-fantasy-7-revelation-wants-minigames-to-feel-like-a-choice-again/?thumbnailid=1783442) to become more optional based on feedback to Rebirth, as well as how the FITS system adds a job system to the game that will drastically change how progression and combat work. Final Fantasy Revelation capped off a stacked Summer Game Fest Live presentation(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/summer-game-fest-live-2026-all-the-biggest-announcements-and-games/), which included reveals for Resident Evil Veronica, Alien Isolation 2, and many more.
