Where to find Gold in Subnautica 2
Gold in Subnautica 2 is found primarily in the hot biome, located to the east of your Lifepod. It spawns in caves and around thermal vents, where the water is at its hottest. So to farm Gold, you will first need to unlock the Heat Tolerance Adaptation, so that you can enter the hot biome without taking damage.
You can unlock the Heat Tolerance Adaptation by crafting a Sonic Resonator, and then using it to destroy all the Bloom infestation sites to the west of the Lifepod. There are three Bloom sites to find:
- Below the Spider Dome, 230 metres WSW of the Lifepod.
- On the edge of the Jelly Barrens, 240 metres NNW of the Lifepod.
- 200 metres from the Lifepod, bearing 300 degrees. (MUST BE DONE LAST)
At the final Bloom site, once you cleanse the area of Bloom Cankers, you can interact with the Angel Comb in the centre to unlock the Heat Tolerance Adaptation, allowing you to enter the hot biome and find all the Gold you need.

To find Gold, head east from the Lifepod for 200 metres and you'll enter the hot biome. From there, keep swimming and you'll start to see lava-spewing thermal vents emerging from the ground. You'll find Gold deposits on most of these thermal vents. The small nodes can be broken by hand, while the larger ones will require the Sonic Resonator to break apart.
Just remember: even with the Heat Tolerance Adaptation, getting too close to the tops of thermal vents will damage you, because of the intense heat. So try to dip in and out of proximity with the vents, so that the heat doesn't have time to deplete your health.
Here's the best Gold farming spot in Subnautica 2
The highest concentration of Gold on the map can be found by the large thermal vent immediately next to the massive Cicada Wreck (Empty Hold). You can find it 450 metres to the east of the Lifepod right on the northern edge of the biome.
Head to the massive thermal vent on the southwest side of the wreckage, and then look to the southwest. You should see another, smaller thermal vent. This particular vent is a fantastic Gold farming spot, home to over a dozen Gold ore nodes. If you need more, you can head to the next thermal vent directly to the west, where you'll find another easy 8 Gold nodes.
The first time I discovered this spot, I constructed a Beacon there using the Habitat Builder. That way, I could easily return to this spot every time I needed more Gold. This spot allows me to very quickly and easily fill up my inventory with Gold.
If you've constructed a base further to the east, then another good Gold farming spot can be found right next to the Research Outpost - an abandoned base on the northeast side of the Axum Observatory. Around the southeast side of the base, where the terrain dips down into a lower platform, you'll be able to find 13 Gold deposits scattered about for you to mine.
