In a press release, game director Stephen Clarke-Wilson said the team used its experience working on Guild Wars Reforged UI and getting it working on the Steam Deck helped when it came time to rebuild the MMO for mobile.
"That deep dive into the user interface code has been rolled into rebuilding the user experience for mobile platforms," Clarke-Wilson said.
Guild Wars Reforged released late last year, simplifying the process of trying to figure out which version of the MMO to buy and adding controller support and Steam Deck verification. It also added graphical improvements like ambient occlusion, better bloom effects, HD skill icons, rebuilt 3D audio, and support for higher-resolution monitors to the subscription-free MMO.
On the gameplay front, Reforged added a new quest-tracking system to help guide players to their destination. To celebrate the game's 21st anniversary, it most recently received new quests and even a new dungeon.
While the original Guild Wars likely won't be receiving new expansions any time soon, its sequel, Guild Wars 2, does regularly receive new content. Its sixth and latest expansion launched last October, adding new housing options and more.
