How to solve the scales puzzle in Silent Hill Townfall

The scales puzzle in Silent Hill: Townfall involves many steps, and they're far from obvious. First, you must interpret a very cryptic CRTV video, then you must open a pharmacy locker, and then you'll have to find Jess' house, which initially seems unreachable. Even if you've done all of that already, arranging the items on the scales is a challenge on its own.

Here's how to find the pharmacy locker code, reach Jess' house, and solve the scales puzzle in Silent Hill: Townfall.

'Searching for Zoe' scales puzzle walkthrough

The scales puzzle makes up most of the "Searching for Zoe" mission in Silent Hill: Townfall. After leaving Zoe's house and sneaking past the monsters in the Town Square area, you will find the scales at the end of the hallway in the Shorefront Family Clinic.

To solve the scales puzzle, you must place three items on the scales in the correct order. One item you've already got, Zoe's lanyard, was hidden in the human organ box at Zoe's house. The second and third items are found at the pharmacy and in Jess' house.

To collect the missing items, it's very important to pick up the scalpel from Zoe's desk. It's inside the green medical box, in the same room as the scales puzzle.

Before you head into town, be sure to unlock the reception door so you can save your game. You can also listen to a message asking Zoe to visit the pharmacy (the first hint).

How to open the pharmacy locker in Silent Hill: Townfall

To reach the pharmacy, go to the Town Square and make a U-turn to the left. It's building number 7 on your map. The front door is locked, but you can use the scalpel to open it. At the back, you will find a locker that requires a four-digit code to open.

To obtain the locker code, you must first tune the radio on the desk. Scan the signal with your CRTV as usual, then complete the mini-game; move the CRTV back and forth, left to right, until the two circles on the screen (almost) overlap. Next, select each color one-by-one and move the colorful shapes into the rectangular boxes. When the circles completely overlap, and each colorful figure fits neatly into a box, the CRTV puzzle is complete.

Tuning the radio unlocks a short video on your CRTV. See the brief glimpses of the four wall posters? Each poster presents a number. Use them on the locker, in the same order as shown in the video, and you will open it.

Here's how to find every number:

• The "wash your hands" poster in the bathroom shows six fingers, which means it represents the number 6.
• The "5 steps" prescription drugs poster near the desk represents the number 5.
• The blood pressure poster near the pharmacy's entrance shows a meter pointing to the number 3.
• The antibiotics poster near the desk shows 10 pills, but one has fallen from the pack, which means it represents the number 9.

The pharmacy locker door code is: 6539.

Inside the locker, you will find a medicine prescription bag with an error note attached to it. After Zoe's lanyard, this is the second item needed to solve the scales puzzle. Next, you must go to Jess' house for the third item.

How to enter Jess' house in Silent Hill: Townfall

To reach Jess' house, you must pass through St. Amelia Park. Thanks to your scalpel, you can now open the south gate. The only exit is the narrow lane in the northwest. Be sure to save your game at the telephone booth in Farrow Street, then continue to Jess' house, next to number 14 on the map. Beware that there are several monsters lurking in the streets.

Both the front and back doors of Jess' house are locked, but there's a note stuck to the back door; Jess has left the back door key with Walter at nr. 16, which is the apartment building opposite Jess' house. Inside, go upstairs and into the apartment on the right (apartment 1/2). The key is in the living room, on the table near the window.

So, to find the key to Jess' house, you must follow this route, starting at the pharmacy:

Remember; this key only works on the back door. Inside Jess' house, pick up the broken stethoscope on the bed.

How to solve the scales puzzle in Silent Hill: Townfall

Now that you've got all three required items, one problem remains: how do you arrange them in the correct order? The clue lies in the underlined phrases on the paper next to the scales.

Here's what they mean:

• "I didn't listen closely enough." It's about hearing, so it refers to the broken stethoscope.
• "I made mistakes and couldn't focus on the task at hand." It mentions an error, so this refers to the prescription dosage error note.
• "I'm not fit to work in this role any longer." The clinic job is shown on Zoe's lanyard.

Place the items on the scales from left to right, in the same order as the note. The scale puzzle solution is: broken stethoscope on the left scale, prescription dosage error note on the middle scale, and Zoe's lanyard on the right scale.
