'Reacher' Star Says Season Where He Kills His Way Through a White Supremacist Militia Scrapped After ‘Someone Got Re-Elected'

It seems one of Jack Reacher’s most cathartic adventures was scrapped due to the dismal political climate. Last Friday, Reacher star Alan Ritchson implied in a post on Threads that Amazon canned a season about Reacher battling white supremacists after Donald Trump was elected for a second term.

“Every year I’m sad to learn that next season won’t be the book where he [Reacher] kills his way through a white supremacist militia camp,” a Threads user posted. Ritchson responded, “My favorite book. Fun fact: I had it approved until someone got re-elected.” If it wasn’t clear, Ritchson was seemingly referring to Donald Trump’s re-election in 2024. It’s possible that this season would have been the fourth or fifth season of the show: The series first aired in 2020, with seasons three and four airing in February 2025 and August 2026, respectively.

The book in question is Die Trying, the second entry in the Jack Reacher series. Originally published in 1998, the novel follows its titular hero as he and a prominent politician’s daughter are kidnapped by a white supremacist organization.

While Prime Video hasn’t offered an official response to Alan Ritchson’s comments, it seems plausible that Amazon dropped the plotline out of fear of blowback from Trump supporters or the president himself. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has publicly supported Trump following his re-election, describing his win as “an extraordinary political comeback.”

What is Reacher about?

For those who haven’t watched Reacher, it’s an action thriller series that follows a former U.S. Army military police major who battles various criminal organizations. The show has been renewed for a fifth season, based on the twentieth novel, Make Me. A spin-off show, Neagley, premiered on Sept. 16, 2026.

As for series star Ritchson, he has made his political beliefs clear in the past, saying, “Trump is a rapist and a con man, and yet the entire Christian church seems to treat him like he’s their poster child, and it’s unreal. I don’t understand it.” Since then, he has called out the president several times, particularly around the Epstein Files. He also praised Bernie Sanders as a “hero.” Last week, Variety reported that Ritchson is in talks to star in a Helldivers film for Sony.
