1. Obtain the Map Of Mammon [2].
This part of the walkthrough will take you to the Silent Steps, but first you should clear out the rest of the Vestige Of Infinity, because it'll allow you to acquire the map which covers the Silent Steps region.
Use Mether's Breath to fast travel to the Vestige Of Infinity Beacon, adjoining the Starved Harridan boss arena. Now do a clockwise circuit around the arena. Past the elevator shaft you'll find a sitting spot, and then on the far side there's a gap in the wall you can sidle through.

Head to the left of the giant ramp ahead first, and kill the two Roaming Heads in the pond. Destroy the Bone Statue in this pond for a Laterite.
Now cross to the other side of the ramp. There's a hole in the ground; look either side of the hole for a Galvanic Shard, and a Gloom Tentacle.
Now head to the right of the ramp. Two Infested Stalkers are petrified near a couple of electrical pylons. Because you now have the Voltaic Essence from the Starved Harridan, at your approach the pylons will unpetrify the Stalkers, allowing them to attack you.
Kill them both, and loot the 2x Galvanic Shards from the bases of the pylons. Go up the small ramp to the left of the two pylons, and kill the Cultists around the corner. Loot the Galvanic Shard beside them, and then turn the corner to find a stone slab containing another Laterite.

Now head back and around the right-hand side of the two pylons instead, and kill the remaining Stalker there. Now head through the gap between the two pylons. Turn left immediately for another Gloom Tentacle; after which you should ride the elevator to the bottom.
Through the gap in the wall you'll find 2x Dorsalite and a chest containing a Muradean Tome (a new kind of valuable item), and a Justiciar's Stone.

Head back up the elevator and back to the giant ramp, and head up its first part. Turn right immediately, and you'll find Ruk atop one of his statues in the centre of a circular platform.
Loot the 4x Galvanic Shards around the statue, and then loot the Map Of Mammon [2] to reveal this entire region (including the neighbouring Silent Steps which is your true aim).

Mark step as completed.
2. Activate the Gate Of Infinity Beacon.
Seeing as you're here, let's take the couple of extra minutes to unlock the Beacon ahead so you can fast travel back to it later.
Head up the long set of stairs beside Ruk's map statue platform, and you'll find a Bone Gate. Use it to travel across the gap, and enter the large room beyond.
Inside, you'll find four Torch Cultists and a Frog Cultist guarding the way. In the centre is another of those invulnerability torches, so destroy that first, and then kill the Cultists.
Now you're free to head to the far end and activate the Gate Of Infinity Beacon. Rest there too if you like, but don't bother cleansing it yet; we'll get to that in the next part.

Mark step as completed.
3. Enter The Silent Steps.
Turn around from the Beacon and go back through the Bone Gate and down the steps. Turn right and you'll find, opposite Ruk's map statue, another circular platform. This one is home to a Corrupted Statue.
Begin the trial, and you'll be faced with the following waves of foes:
- 2x Foul Knights
- 2x Foul Knights
- 2x Gloom Seekers
Obviously, it's the final wave that will give you the most trouble. Try to take out the first one as soon as possible, as it's being unfrozen. You don't want to face both at once.
Once the trial is complete, interact with the statue to claim your rewards: a Dorsalite, and the Thief's Stone. This Tarstone pairs very well with the Axe and Dagger, and it might be worth spending some time with it to level it up!
Behind the statue, there's a ramp leading downwards. Take the ramp, and defeat the two Stalkers and the Gloom Seeker guarding it. Again, the Gloom Seeker is the danger, so separate the Stalkers from her and kill them first before handling the Seeker.
Collect the 3x Galvanic Shards around the pylon, and then keep heading straight on opposite the ramp to find another Galvanic Shard in the tall sconce to your left; and a stone slab containing a Laterite.
Now turn around and take the side path out, through the gap in the wall. Ahead is a narrow zig-zagging platform; walk along it, and kill the Necropede on the other side (remember these ranged bastards from the Thieves Retreat dungeon with the invisible walkways?). Loot the stone slab for another Laterite.
Turn around and look at the zig-zag platform you crossed. Jump off to the right of it, and you'll land on a lower ledge with an air current. Follow the path around and kill the Roaming Head. Loot the Galvanic Shard by the Resolve Tentacle, and then cross the bridge to the far side, killing the Necropede here too.
To the left you'll find a dead end with 2x Galvanic Shards. Collect them, and then head into the cave and use the air current ahead. Once you exit the cave, turn right immediately and you'll find another Galvanic Shard in the shrubs around the corner.
Then cross the ramp and you'll finally be shown the title card for the region you've been in for the past couple minutes: The Silent Steps.
Directly ahead of you in this pond is a ramp leading to The Silent Steps Beacon. Activate it and rest there.
Mark step as completed.
4. Collect the Revered Gland from the Unfound Path.
There's a Bone Gate opposite the Beacon, but ignore it for now. Head to the left of the Beacon, and kill the Bell Snail at the base of the tree. Then take the right-hand path around the cliff edge, where you'll find a sitting spot, a Galvanic Shard, and a Laterite on a Bone Statue.
Turn back and take the ramp down, to the left of the Bell Snail. Kill another Snail here, and loot the Galvanic Shard behind it. Then cross under the bridge and loot the statue in the pond for a Coin Of Mammon.
To the left of the pond, you'll find a Dorsalite on a throne guarded by three Roaming Heads. There's also another Galvanic Shard on the first level of the pond to the left of the throne. Lots of collectibles in this region!
Follow the ramp down from the right of the throne, and you'll come across a large doorway, obscured by an opaque white veil. At your approach, the two Faceless Cleriks on either side of the doorway will unpetrify and attack. Kill them both - they shouldn't pose too much of a threat at this late stage of the game.
Collect the Galvanic Shard to the left of the doorway, and then interact with the doorway to pass through into the "Unfound Path". Inside, four Torch Cultists are guarded by another invulnerability torch. Destroy it and kill them all; then loot the Revered Gland from the end before returning out into the overworld.
Mark step as completed.
7. Obtain the Colossus Stone.
Head back up the slope and keep going to the top. Turn left and kill the Necropede ahead. Then go back to the big tree to the left of the bridge you crossed, and look down over the edge. You'll see a platform below with an air current.
Drop down and kill the Necropede down here. There's a Bone Gate, but this is actually just another way you could have entered the Silent Steps region. It takes you back to the invulnerability torch and the Cultists that were next to the Castigator's Keep Beacon.
Ride the air current back up, and collect the Galvanic Shard from the base of the tree diagonally opposite. Now head down the slope behind the ledge you're on, and drop off the edge to the bottom.
Ahead of you there's a large group of Cultists, including two Faceless Cleriks. This many Cultists can still pose a threat, so take them out patiently and intelligently.
At the far end is a sitting spot, if you fancy a breather. Then open the chest to obtain the Colossus Stone, another Tarstone that's exclusive to the Obsidian Hammer.
Opposite the chest is a Bone Gate, but don't take it. This takes you to the third major region of Mammon, which we'll tackle later on. Turn around and ride the air current back up to the top.
Mark step as completed.
8. Explore the top levels.
Head back up the ramp, and then press on directly opposite, up the ramp to the right from where you came up here. Kill another two Roaming Heads and another Stalker, and loot the Bone Statue on the edge for a Laterite.
Behind you, there's a ramp up to the left, but before you go up it, head forwards and around the corner to find another Laterite on a Bone Statue. Then go up the ramp and kill another large group of Cultists (including one Clerik).
On this upper ledge there's a stone slab containing a Gloombound Stone, and also 2x Galvanic Shards on either side of it.
The only other thing up here is another Bone Gate. But this one, like the Gate opposite the Colossus Stone, also leads to that later region of Mammon, so ignore it for the time being.
Make your way back to the Barren Crest Beacon, and rest if needed. Now head down the slope to the Bell Snails. Kill them again, and cross the bridge by the right-hand Snail.
If it's still alive, kill the Roaming Head on the other side, and loot the Galvanic Shard to the left. Then head up the stairs to the right, killing two more Roaming Heads on the way. Ignore the stairs taking you even higher, and instead use the Bone Gate to hop back across the way, to a higher ledge you haven't yet seen.
This here's a nasty fight. There's a lot of corruption in the centre of this platform, and it's guarded by a Gloom Seeker and an Anointed Confessor. Unusually, in this matchup the Gloom Seeker is the weak link. Bait her away and kill her first; then whittle down the Confessor with parries and ranged attacks.
Once they're dead the corruption will clear, allowing you to acquire the Revered Gland within. You should also collect the 2x Dorsalite on the thrones on either side of the corruption.
The only other item of interest on this platform is a Gloom Tentacle worth 1500x Gloom, so destroy it and then take the Bone Gate back across the gap.
Mark step as completed.
9. "Defeat" Sariel, the Endless.
Head up the steps beside the Bone Gate, and keep following the ascending path, killing all the Cultists along the way. At the top, cut straight across to the other side, and kill the trio of Cultists on your left. Loot the Dorsalite they were guarding.
Head down the slope from the Dorsalite, and use the Bone Gate. This takes you directly back to the Silent Steps Beacon, so rest there, and then make your way back up here. Kill the Cultists again, for good measure.
Now cross halfway between the two ends of this upper platform, and turn left. Here you'll face the boss of this region: Sariel, the Endless. Sort of.
This is actually a very easy fight, because despite Sariel's fast scythe-swinging combos, he has very little health, and you can cut him down startlingly quickly.
"Kill" Sariel to obtain some Gloom and a Glimpse - but all is not as it seems. A blackened spirit image of Sariel can be seen walking from the arena up the steps and through the opposite gate, which then opens up.
Before you follow Sariel, loot the stone slab in the arena for a Laterite, and loot the 4x Galvanic Shards on the edge of the platform, by the sitting spot.
Mark step as completed.
10. Conquer the Chamber Of Becoming.
Now follow Sariel's spirit image up the stairs and through the now-open gate. Up some more steps, there's a Knight Of Mammon to slay; and just beyond that, a dungeon entrance. Loot the Dorsalite opposite the entrance, and then head through it to enter the Chamber Of Becoming.
As you enter the first room after the elevator, you'll be set upon again by Sariel, the Endless. Name making sense yet?
Sariel disappears quickly after taking some damage, and the far wall lowers to reveal a path forward. Follow him and drop off the ledge at the end to finally face him properly.
In this small arena, you need to destroy the four glowing pillars first; otherwise, whenever you kill Sariel, he'll just respawn at full health.
With the pillars gone, you can finally end Sariel once and for all. His scythe-swings are still dangerous, of course, but your experience with Confessors thus far should serve you well in parrying and punishing those attacks.
Deliver the killing blow and Sariel will disappear, leaving behind a new weapon: Sariel's own Clockwork Scythe. How fun!
Mark step as completed.
11. Unlock Sariel's Shell.
Once you've finished inspecting the Clockwork Scythe, you'll see that there's a new Shell in the room. Interact with it to unlock Sariel's Shell for yourself.
Doing so will thrust you into Sariel's first Memory: "The Search". This one is a little more involved than most, but still mostly just involves following your companion, Rickart, down into the mines to find the fertile Ovum.
Interact with the Ovum to complete the Memory, and return to the overworld. You can switch to Sariel now if you like, to learn more about his intriguing abilities. I find that Sariel feels a bit underwhelming at first, and needs some good upgrades to make him shine - so don't be put off immediately.
But of course, you can use whichever Shell you like going forward! This walkthrough, as ever, is Shell-agnostic.
Mark step as completed.
12. Obtain the Caged Hystrix.
Once you're free from Sariel's Memory, you'll see that Ruk has joined you in the arena. Speak with him to learn more about his own connection to Sariel.
When you're ready, turn around and head up the stairs for another unexpected gift: the Caged Hystrix. This unusual Sidearm is a fast-firing one much like the Forgotten Crossbow, and it really sings in Sariel's hands once you've both upgraded him, and enhanced the Hystrix itself with the right Tarstones (cough Accursed Stone cough).
And that's the entirety of The Silent Steps fully completed! Just interact with the glowing orb behind the Caged Hystrix to exit the dungeon, and return to the Silent Steps Beacon to await your next move.
Mark step as completed.
Now that the Castigator's Keep, the Vestige Of Infinity, and the Silent Steps are all 100%'d, it's time to face the fifth legacy dungeon of the game. Join us in Part 24 for our full Mortal Shell 2 Faded Citadel walkthrough.
