Cult Classic Platformer Rain World Is Getting A Definitive Release On Nintendo Switch 2

Rain World, a very atmospheric cult classic platformer from Videocult, will finally be released on Nintendo Switch 2 when its Anthology Edition launches. During indie publisher Akupara Games' first game showcase, we also learned that Rain World Anthology Edition will get a physical release and received updates on several other upcoming indie titles.
If you haven't played Videocult's Rain World before, it's a very interesting blend of a cinematic, Limbo-like puzzle platformer with a survival game. You control a slugcat exploring a post-apocalyptic world, and have to forage for food, fight other animals, and reach hibernation spots before deadly rain kills you. While Rain World's constant tension and difficulty mean it's not for everyone, those who love it really adore it, cementing its status as a cult classic.
Rain World Anthology Edition bundles the game together with its two expansions, Downpour and The Watcher, for a physical release. PS5 and Nintendo Switch versions will be released, but Akupara Games is also taking this opportunity to bring the game to Nintendo Switch 2 and release it physically on that platform. It's working with Serenity Forge to produce a standard edition, which will have an embossed slip cover, and a Collector's Edition that contains an art book, scarf, keychain, standee, sticker sheet, and soundtrack.
What else was announced at the Akupara Direct?
While Rain World: Anthology Edition was the most notable reveal from the Akupara Direct, it wasn't the only one. Videocult confirmed that Airframe Ultra, the studio's next game, will launch on Nov. 5. Cryptmaster developers Paul Hart and Lee Williams announced Bonespire, a "crafting simulation" game set in a wizard tower. Retro platformer Aokaki and a desktop companion app, Working with Montabi, were also announced.
As for updates on games we already know about, the showcase highlighted that the second episode of Kumitantei: Old Slaughter will hit Steam on Nov. 12, and we got a new trailer and demo for The Darkside Detective: Backside of the Moon. Overall, it was a very solid debut indie showcase for Akupara Games, and it's giving me an excuse to revisit Rain World soon.
