GTA 6 Soars to No. 1 on Netflix's Movie Chart

Polygon RSS FeedSam Hill3 min read(4 days ago)

Overview & Key Takeaways

Grand Theft Auto 6 is dominating Netflix's movie charts, with its 27-minute extended look hitting No. 1 in 87 countries.

After 13 years of waiting, Grand Theft Auto 6 is finally starting to feel real — and fans have been desperate for every scrap of information they can get. Recent leaks offered glimpses of the game ahead of its official reveal, while Rockstar's latest footage confirmed that GTA 6 is shaping up to be the bloodiest entry in the series yet. The map is reportedly three times the size of Red Dead Redemption 2's, and the hype has even sent PlayStation 5 Pro prices through the roof.

So when Rockstar brought its latest GTA 6 footage to Netflix, it knew people would watch. The company probably didn't expect over 31.1 million people to do so in just a few days.

Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, the nearly 27-minute gameplay showcase that premiered on Netflix last week, hit No. 1 on the English film list in 87 of the 93 countries tracked globally, according to Netflix. That's a pretty remarkable result for what is, essentially, a very long video game trailer. The showcase has also been uploaded to YouTube, where it's now passed 17 million views.

What the GTA 6 Extended Look revealed

The Netflix showcase finally gave everyone a lengthy look at the game following two shorter trailers — and there was plenty to unpack.

For starters,Vice City is only part of the story. Rockstar says the playable area in GTA 6 will be roughly three times the size of Red Dead Redemption 2's playable map. The showcase gave us a better sense of that scale, jumping between the city, beaches, rural areas, and a Florida-inspired wilderness packed with wildlife.

Then there are the tiny details. GTA 6 is going all-in on realism, with clothing that reacts naturally to movement, individual strands of hair, visible sweat on characters, and reflections that dynamically respond to the environment. The game also finally appears to deliver on an old GTA 5 promise: actual environmental destruction. During one fight, two characters crash through a wall, while other scenes show debris, dust and bottles reacting to the chaos around them.

Jason and Lucia are also more flexible than the trailers initially suggested. The game brings back GTA 5's ability to switch between protagonists, although scripted story sequences will sometimes lock you into one character. Rockstar also seems to be putting more emphasis on the relationship between the two, with players able to develop their romance — or apparently keep things platonic.

And, naturally, there's a lot of classic GTA weirdness. The showcase featured beach activities, scooters, dirt bikes, sports cars, skydiving, and a parade of strange Vice City residents. You can even hug a dog.

For a game that's still more than two months away, Rockstar has now shown an awful lot. But one major question remains unanswered: what exactly is happening with GTA Online? Rockstar still hasn't officially detailed an online component for GTA 6, despite the enormous success of the existing game.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X on Nov. 19. A PC version has not been announced.

The New Gundam Game Has A Collector’s Edition Just For Gunpla Sickos Like Me

Gundam Rogue Orbit(https://www.gamespot.com/games/gundam-rogue-orbit/) is a break from tradition for Bandai Namco, as new entries in the franchise typically debut as an anime series first, then as a line of collectible model kits. But this Gundam is arriving first as a video game--one that was shown in more detail today during the September PlayStation State of Play broadcast(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/playstation-state-of-play-september-2026-all-the-biggest-announcements-games-and-trailers/). If you're a Gundam fan, fret not, because at least one part of the traditional Gundam experience is being kept intact if you buy the $160 Rogue Orbit collector's edition. !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/Gundam-CE.jpg?w=636) Gundam Rogue Orbit Collector's Edition Like other special editions from Bandai Namco, Gundam Rogue Orbit combines a physical copy of the game with a few physical in-game goodies. It's the inclusion of a High-Grade model kit based on the new Gundam Helix mobile suit that could make this collector's edition sought after, as it will be exclusive to the game. Gundam model kits aren't usually hard to come by as Bandai Namco regularly keeps store shelves restocked with them, but the HG Helix model looks like a rare exception to that rule. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AiPllyLIvSo If you are planning to grab one, it's worth noting that HG Gundam model kits are 1/144-scale figures and are designed to appeal to casual builders with their moderate detail, minimal foil stickers, and durable design. You won't need too many tools to build one either, and the Helix design features a lot of panels and other mechanical details, so that could be a nice kit to build. The new trailer for the game also teased other shells that you can apply to the Helix to shake up its look, including an RX-78-2 skin and a red Zaku-inspired look that would make Char Aznable proud. Aside from the model, you'll also get a poster, reversible cover art, a pack of five promo cards, a steel case for the game disc, and DLC that includes 14 different color patterns for the Helix in the game. You won't have to wait too much longer to play it, as Gundam Rogue Orbit launches on March 5, 2027, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
