Beast Of Reincarnation, like many melee-focused action RPGs nowadays, gives you a lot of options when it comes to combat. This extends to countering attacks - by now you've probably learnt that Emma can both parry and evade attacks. But did you know that you can also Roll?...

Rolling travels much further than a simple evade, which makes it the best form of defence when it comes to giving yourself a moment to think or heal up. In this quick guide, I'll explain how to unlock the ability to Roll in Beast Of Reincarnation, and how to activate it in combat.

How to Roll in Beast Of Reincarnation

You can unlock the ability to Roll in Beast Of Reincarnation via the blue path of Emma's Skill tree. You'll find the Roll Skill four nodes down from the starting Tracking Shot Skill in the blue branch.

The lower branches of Emma's Skill tree work by upgrading the starting node - in this case, Tracking Shot - in order to progressively unlock lower nodes. To unlock the Roll skill, you need at least Lvl 2 in Tracking Shot - and to unlock the Lvl 2 upgrade in Tracking Shot, Emma needs at least 9 Florescence.

Each time you level up, you can rest at a Campsite and spend your Attribute points on one of Emma's three Attributes: Strength, Vitality, and Florescence. So to get the ability to Roll, you need to level up, and spend your Attribute points to upgrade your Florescence to at least 9. Then you can open Emma's Skills tree and upgrade Tracking Shot - the topmost of the blue nodes on the left - to Level 2.

That entire blue path of the Skill tree is related to Emma's Florescence, just like the green path is related to Vitality and the red path is related to Strength. You'll need to meet ever-greater Attribute thresholds in order to unlock these abilities in your Skill tree. Koo's own Attributes and Skills work in exactly the same way.

The Roll node is an offshoot of the Lucky Shot node, so you also need to unlock Lucky Shot before you can unlock Roll. Altogether, you need to spend the following Skill points:

• Tracking Shot Lvl 1: Costs 8 SP
• Tracking Shot Lvl 2: Costs 15 SP
• Lucky Shot: Costs 7 SP
• Roll: Costs 30 SP

So to unlock Roll, the total SP cost is 60, plus the prerequisite of Attribute points needed to bring Emma's (not Koo's) Florescence up to 9.

Once you've unlocked the Roll skill, you can Dodge Roll at any time by simply double-tapping your Evade button/key. On controller the default button is B, while on keyboard the default keybind is CTRL.

A Roll covers more ground than a regular evade, which is why it's so useful. Evades tend to be more precise - they're best for countering unblockable red attacks. But if you're trying to put distance between yourself and an enemy, whether to heal, use your ranged attacks, or simply give yourself a moment to think, then Rolls are the best way forward.

The downside is that, because of the double-tap nature of the input action, there's a slight delay before Emma actually rolls. So if you're trying to evade a regular attack and strike back, then it's best to stick with normal evades, because they are slightly more responsive.
