The Simpsons are returning to Fortnite this week as part of a reloaded Springfield, with all manner of cartoon loot coming back and a few new quality-of-life upgrades. In a surprise twist, The Simpsons' Fortnite event will welcome another guest character: John Wick, rendered Simpsons-style.
Keanu Reeves' famous unstoppable assassin is coming to Fortnite as a Simpsons character, Epic Games confirmed Wednesday. In new promotional art for The Simpsons Reload event, the Baba Yaga himself is shown parachuting into Springfield in a glider made out of — what else? — guns. Yeah, we're not just thinking he's back, we're totally confused by it.
In addition to Mr. Wick, a Simpsons-fied version of The Continental Hotel from The World of John Wick is coming to the new version of Fortnite's Springfield map. The Simpsons version of the hotel is named The Confidential, which previously appeared in The Simpsons 32nd season. In the episode "The Last Barfighter," The Confidential is revealed as a hotel where Springfield's bartenders — namely Moe — discretely meet to discuss stories told by their customers. The Confidential is run by a proprietor named Artemis, who is voiced by Ian McShane (who also plays Winston Scott, manager of the New York Continental hotel, in the John Wick films).
John Wick has previously appeared in The Simpsons as well. In the season 35 episode "Iron Marge," Bart is shown watching a John Wick movie in which the killer-for-hire gets himself a sweet treat at an ice cream shop called Assassins Only Frozen Treats. After sampling a gelato, Wick is attacked and dispatches his would-be assassin with a tub of Magic Shell and a sugar cone shiv. In "Iron Marge," Wick is voiced by Hank Azaria, not Reeves.
The Simpsons' encore appearance in Fortnite will bring with it a bunch of returning loot, including weapons like the Cobalt Slingshot, Mr. Blasty, the Five-Gun, and the Cartoon Chainsaw. The Simpsons Reload in Fortnite will also introduce a new weapon, the Tactical Assault Rifle.
Finally, John Wick will also appear as one of Fortnite's coveted collectible Sprites. The John Wick Sprite captures the stern and minimal look of Reeves' character, but mixes things up by giving him some expressive uwu eyes. It's adorably grim.
